How to do it
Sit in a leg extension machine with your back against the pad and the front of one ankle under the padded roller. Grip the handles for stability and extend that knee to lift the weight until your leg is nearly straight. Pause and squeeze, then lower under control and finish all reps before switching legs.
- 1Feel your quad contract strongly as you straighten your knee
- 2Pause and squeeze at the top, then lower slowly to feel the stretch
- 3Keep your back against the pad and your hips planted in the seat
Common mistakes
- Do not snap your knee into a hard lockout
- Do not lean back or arch your lower back to move the weight
- Do not use momentum; control the lift and the lowering
