How to do it
Sit in the plate-loaded leg extension machine with your back against the pad and the front of your ankles against the roller. Extend one leg at a time until nearly straight, squeeze the quad, then lower under control and alternate sides.
- 1Extend the knee and feel the quad contract strongly
- 2Pause and squeeze at the top, then lower slowly to a stretch
- 3Keep your back against the pad and toes relaxed
Common mistakes
- Don't lock the knee out abruptly at the top
- Avoid leaning back or arching to throw the weight
- Don't swing the leg up with momentum
