How to do it
Stand tall with your core braced and arms relaxed. Swing one leg straight up in front of you toward your opposite hand, keeping the kicking leg fairly straight, then control it back down and repeat or alternate sides.
- 1A dynamic stretch through the back of the swinging leg
- 2Hip flexors snapping the leg up quickly
- 3Tall posture and a braced core keeping you upright
Common mistakes
- Rounding your back to gain extra height
- Forcing the kick beyond a controlled range
- Letting the standing knee buckle inward
Muscles worked
The leg front kick mainly works the hip flexors, with the lower abs, quads, and hamstrings assisting.
