How to do it
Lie flat on your back holding a kettlebell between your feet or resting against your shins. With legs extended, raise them toward 90 degrees, then lower slowly without letting your heels touch the floor.
- 1Feel your lower abs lift your legs while keeping them straight
- 2Press your lower back into the floor for full core engagement
- 3Lower the legs slowly to keep tension on the abs
Common mistakes
- Avoid arching your back; shorten the range if it lifts
- Don't swing your legs; move with control
- Don't strain your neck; keep your head down
Muscles worked
The kettlebell leg raise mainly works the hip flexors and lower abs, with the upper abs, forearms, obliques, quads, and glutes assisting.
