How to do it
Hold a kettlebell against your chest or racked at your shoulders with your feet hip-width apart. Keep a slight bend in your knees, brace your core, and hinge at your hips, pushing your butt back until your torso is nearly parallel to the floor, then drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to stand.
- 1A stretch through your hamstrings and glutes as you hinge
- 2Your core braced and chest up, back working isometrically
- 3Glutes squeezing to drive your hips forward at the top
Common mistakes
- Rounding your lower back; hinge from the hips, not the spine
- Locking your knees; keep a soft bend
- Shifting onto your toes; keep weight through your heels and midfoot
Muscles worked
