How to do it

Stand sideways to the bag in your fighting stance. Chamber your rear leg with the knee high, then extend the leg past the target and snap the heel back across the bag in a hooking arc. Pivot hard on your base foot and rotate through your hips, then recoil the leg and reset your stance.

  1. 1Drive the rotation from your hips and pivot foot, not just the leg
  2. 2Feel your glute and hip fire as you whip the heel across the target
  3. 3Stay tall through your core so you keep balance on the base leg

Common mistakes

  • Don't throw the kick off-balance or fall toward the bag
  • Avoid leading with a stiff leg; chamber the knee first
  • Don't skip the pivot on your base foot or your hips can't open
