How to do it
Stand tall holding a wall or rail for balance. Lift one knee up toward your chest, driving from the front of the hip. Pause at the top, then lower with control and repeat. Switch legs after your set.
- 1Feel the front of your hip pull the knee up toward your chest
- 2Lift through a full range while keeping your torso tall
- 3Keep your standing leg steady and your core braced
Common mistakes
- Do not round your back or lean back to raise the knee
- Avoid swinging the leg up with momentum
- Do not let your hips rock side to side
Muscles worked
The hip - flexion mainly works the hip flexors, with the lower abs and quads assisting.
