How to do it

Sit or kneel and gently point and flex one foot, then ease into a stretch by pressing the top of the foot toward the floor and pulling the toes back. Hold each position to open up the ankle and foot.

  1. 1Feel a stretch across the top of your foot and the back of your ankle
  2. 2Move slowly through point and flex to work the full ankle range
  3. 3Keep the rest of your leg relaxed as you ease into each position

Common mistakes

  • Don't force the foot past a comfortable stretch
  • Avoid bouncing; hold each position steadily
  • Don't hold through any sharp pain in the joint
