How to do it
Sit with one foot lifted and slowly rotate your ankle in circles, tracing the largest comfortable circle with your toes. Do several circles in one direction, then reverse to mobilise the whole joint.
- 1Feel your ankle move smoothly through its full circular range
- 2Trace slow, deliberate circles with your toes in both directions
- 3Keep your lower leg still so the motion stays in the ankle
Common mistakes
- Don't rush the circles; slow movement gives better mobility
- Avoid forcing through any clicking or pinching points
- Don't move your whole leg; isolate the ankle
