How to do it
Lie on your back holding an EZ bar over your chest with arms extended, knees bent. As you crunch your torso up, pull your knees in toward your chest and shift them to one side, then lower under control and alternate sides. The bar adds resistance while the side pull-in targets the abs and obliques together.
- 1Abs crunching hard to lift the torso
- 2Obliques working as the knees rotate to each side
- 3Controlled tempo on the way back down
Common mistakes
- Yanking with the hip flexors instead of the abs
- Letting the bar drift forward or pull you off balance
- Dropping your shoulders flat and losing core tension
Muscles worked
