How to do it

Lie sideways over an exercise ball with the ball under your ribs and your bottom leg braced for balance. Reach your top arm overhead and let your body drape across the ball, opening up the side of your torso. Hold and breathe, then switch sides.

  1. 1Feel a long stretch through your lat and the side of your ribs
  2. 2Keep your top arm extended overhead to deepen the line
  3. 3Let your waist relax over the ball and breathe into the stretch

Common mistakes

  • Avoid rolling forward or backward off the ball
  • Do not hold your breath; stay relaxed through the ribs
  • Do not force the reach into any sharp pinching
