How to do it
Lie on a flat bench holding a dumbbell in each hand at chest level with palms facing your feet. Press both dumbbells up to full extension, then lower them under control to the sides of your chest. This variation uses an offset base of support on opposite corners, forcing your core to fight rotation as you keep both arms pressing evenly.
- 1Feel your chest and triceps drive the dumbbells up
- 2Brace your core against the pull to one side
- 3Press both arms evenly to keep the load balanced
Common mistakes
- Don't let your torso rotate toward the unsupported side
- Don't flare your elbows straight out to the sides
- Don't let one dumbbell lag behind the other
