How to do it
Set up in a forearm or high plank with a light dumbbell on the floor beside one hand. Keeping your hips square and level, raise the dumbbell straight out in front to shoulder height, then lower it under control and repeat or switch arms.
- 1Your core and obliques fighting hard to stop any hip rotation
- 2The front delt of the raising arm lifting the weight
- 3A stable, level torso anchored through the supporting arm
Common mistakes
- Letting your hips twist or pike as you lift
- Swinging the dumbbell up with momentum
- Dropping or shrugging the supporting shoulder
