How to do it

Attach a rope to a low cable pulley and stand facing the machine, holding one end in each hand with arms down in front. Keeping your elbows nearly straight, raise both arms up and out so they finish overhead in a Y, splitting the rope as you go. Lower under control.

  1. 1Your lower traps and rear delts lifting the arms into the Y
  2. 2Your shoulder blades sliding down and back at the top
  3. 3Constant cable tension through the full arc

Common mistakes

  • Avoid shrugging your upper traps toward your ears
  • Don't arch your lower back to throw the weight up
