How to do it
Sit at a cable pulldown station with a V-bar attachment. Grip the handles, pull the bar down toward your chest while squeezing your shoulder blades together, then return slowly under control.
- 1Feel your lats contracting as you draw the V-bar toward your chest
- 2Keep your shoulder blades down and squeezed together at the bottom
- 3Control the way up to feel a stretch through your back
Common mistakes
- Avoid leaning far back or using momentum to yank the bar down
- Don't let your shoulders shrug up toward your ears
- Don't pull with your biceps alone; initiate with your back
