How to do it
Set an incline bench in front of a high cable and attach a single handle. Lie back on the incline and grip the handle overhead with one hand, arm extended. Pull the handle down toward your shoulder by driving your elbow down and back as you squeeze your lat, then return to a full stretch. Finish your reps, then switch arms.
- 1Feel your lat stretch at the top and contract as you pull the elbow down
- 2Start each rep by depressing your shoulder blade before bending the elbow
- 3Keep your torso supported on the incline and still
Common mistakes
- Don't twist your torso off the bench to move the weight
- Avoid pulling with your biceps; drive the elbow down and back
- Don't let the handle snap back up; control the stretch
