How to do it
Set a cable pulley high and grip the rope or handle facing away from the machine. With your upper arm fixed and elbow high, extend your forearm down and forward to lock out the triceps, then control the return. Keep your elbow from drifting.
- 1Triceps loading and squeezing as you extend the forearm
- 2A fixed upper arm with movement only at the elbow
- 3Steady tension on the return rather than dropping the weight
Common mistakes
- Letting your elbow flare or drift forward
- Using your shoulder or leaning to push the weight
- Rushing the lockout and losing control on the way back
