How to do it
Sit at the cable lat pulldown station and attach a close-grip handle, gripping with hands closer than shoulder-width. Pin your thighs under the pads, lean back slightly, and pull the handle down to your upper chest while squeezing your shoulder blades. Control the bar back to full stretch.
- 1Feel your lats pull the handle down to your upper chest
- 2Keep your elbows tucked and shoulders down to load the lats
- 3Squeeze at the bottom, then control the stretch back up
Common mistakes
- Avoid leaning back excessively or swinging for momentum
- Don't let your shoulders shrug up; keep them pulled down
- Avoid pulling with your arms alone; drive with your back
