How to do it

Walk at a quick, purposeful pace on flat ground or a treadmill, landing heel to toe and swinging your arms naturally. Keep your posture tall and breathing steady, moving fast enough that conversation becomes slightly effortful.

  1. 1A steady, brisk rhythm through your legs and arm swing
  2. 2Calves and glutes pushing you forward with each step
  3. 3Tall posture with relaxed shoulders and steady breathing

Common mistakes

  • Slouching or looking down at your feet
  • Overstriding so your heel lands far ahead of you
  • Holding your breath; keep it steady and rhythmic
