How to do it
Place a sturdy plyometric box in front of you. Stand to one side of the box with your feet hip-width apart. Step or hop onto the box, landing with both feet. Immediately step or jump down on the opposite side, staying light on your feet. Turn to face the box and continue moving back and forth over the box in a smooth, rhythmic fashion.
- 1Step laterally over the box, lifting one leg at a time; you should feel your quads and glutes working to control the movement
- 2Land softly on the other side with knees slightly bent, keeping your core braced
- 3Maintain an upright torso and consistent rhythm to feel coordinated and balanced
Common mistakes
- Don't stomp or jump aggressively, the motion should be controlled and deliberate
- Avoid letting your knees collapse inward during the step
- Don't lean forward or round your back while moving over the box
Muscles worked
The box over mainly works the glutes, quads, and hamstrings, with the lower back and calves assisting.
