How to do it
Stand tall with a barbell resting across your shoulders and your feet shoulder-width apart. Brace your core and rotate your torso to one side while keeping your hips facing forward. Return to center under control, then rotate to the other side.
- 1Feel your obliques drive the rotation as you turn your torso
- 2Keep your hips and lower body still while you rotate through your trunk
- 3Control the return and hold tension through your core
Common mistakes
- Don't rotate your hips or knees; keep your lower body stable
- Avoid whipping the bar around with momentum
- Don't over-rotate past a comfortable range for your spine
Muscles worked
