How to do it
Sit on a bench or chair with a resistance band looped around both knees. Keeping your feet planted, press your knees apart against the band, rotating your thighs outward, then return slowly under control. Keep the rest of your body still and the movement at the hips.
- 1Your glutes and outer hip rotators working as your knees press apart
- 2A controlled, deliberate spread against the band's pull
- 3Steady hips and torso with movement isolated to the thighs
Common mistakes
- Letting your knees snap back together on the return
- Rocking your torso or lifting your feet to cheat the band
- Using a band so heavy the motion turns jerky
