How to do it
Stand with a wide stance and shift your weight directly to one side, bending that knee while keeping the opposite leg straight out to the side. Keep both feet flat and facing forward as you lower into a side lunge until you feel a stretch in the inner thigh of the straight leg. Hold, then switch sides.
- 1Feel the stretch along the inner thigh of the extended leg
- 2Keep both feet flat and pointing forward
- 3Push your hips back and down to deepen the side stretch
Common mistakes
- Do not let the bent knee cave inward
- Avoid letting the straight leg's foot roll onto its edge
- Do not bounce; ease into the position
