How to do it
Stand with feet hip-width and arms up in a guard. Jump and rotate your hips and torso to one side, landing soft with bent knees, then jump and twist back the other way, alternating each rep.
- 1Obliques driving the rotation in the air
- 2Soft, absorbing landings through the legs
- 3A braced core controlling each twist
Common mistakes
- Landing stiff-legged or heavy
- Twisting only the upper body while the hips stay fixed
- Letting the knees collapse inward on landing
Muscles worked
The wind side twist jump mainly works the obliques and lower abs, with the quads, glutes, calves, lower back, upper abs, hamstrings, and hip flexors assisting.
