How to do it
Grip a set of high parallel bars wider than shoulder width and support yourself with arms locked out. Lean your torso forward and lower your body by bending your elbows until you feel a deep stretch across your chest, then press back up. The forward lean and wide grip bias the chest over the triceps.
- 1Feel the chest stretch and load as you lower with a forward lean
- 2Drive through your chest to press back up
- 3Keep your shoulders down and away from your ears
Common mistakes
- Don't stay upright; that shifts the work to the triceps
- Avoid shrugging your shoulders at the bottom
- Don't bounce out of the bottom or drop too fast
Muscles worked
The wide grip chest dip on high parallel bars mainly works the lower chest, triceps, and mid chest, with the front delts assisting.
