How to do it

Sit on the floor holding a weight at your chest and lean back to a strong angle, then lift your feet off the ground so your knees and hips are bent in the air. Rotate your torso to one side, bring the weight across, then twist to the other side. Keeping your legs raised the whole time loads your lower abs along with your obliques.

  1. 1Feel your obliques drive the rotation from side to side
  2. 2Keep your feet up and your lower abs braced throughout
  3. 3Stay tall through your spine as you twist under control

Common mistakes

  • Do not let your arms swing the weight; rotate from your torso
  • Avoid rounding your back or dropping your feet between reps
  • Do not yank the weight across; keep the tempo controlled
