How to do it
Lie on your back, then lift your legs and torso at the same time to form a V-shape, reaching your hands toward your feet. Stop at the top with your balance on your tailbone and hold the position, keeping your legs straight and core tight. Maintain the hold for the prescribed time, breathing steadily without letting your shape collapse.
- 1Your upper and lower abs working together to hold the V
- 2Your legs staying straight as you reach toward your feet
- 3Your hip flexors gently helping while your core does the work
Common mistakes
- Letting your lower back arch or your tailbone roll off the floor
- Holding your breath instead of breathing through the hold
- Letting your legs or torso sag as the hold gets harder
Muscles worked
The v-up hold mainly works the upper abs and lower abs, with the hip flexors, obliques, and quads assisting.
