How to do it
Sit on the floor and lean back, lifting your legs and torso to form a shallow V shape. Hold the position with your core tight and hands reaching toward your shins, keeping the legs as straight as your level allows.
- 1Deep tension through the entire core holding the V
- 2Lower abs and hip flexors keeping the legs raised
- 3A long, braced spine rather than a rounded back
Common mistakes
- Do not let your lower back round and collapse
- Do not hold your breath; keep breathing steady
- Do not let the legs sag toward the floor
Muscles worked
The beginner level v hold mainly works the lower abs, upper abs, and hip flexors, with the obliques and quads assisting.
