How to do it
Lie on your back and lift your shoulders and legs off the floor into a shallow V hold. Keep your legs straight and alternate kicking them up and down in small rapid scissoring motions. Keep your lower back pressed into the floor and your core braced the whole time.
- 1Constant tension in the lower abs holding the V
- 2Small fast kicks driven from the hips with straight legs
- 3Your lower back staying flat against the floor
Common mistakes
- Do not let your lower back arch off the floor
- Avoid bending the knees to make the kicks easier
- Do not hold your breath; breathe steadily through the kicks
Muscles worked
The v flutter kick mainly works the lower abs and hip flexors, with the upper abs, obliques, and quads assisting.
