How to do it

Drop into a deep bodyweight squat and keep your chest tall. Staying low, shift side-to-side by bending one knee while the other leg extends, then return through center and alternate.

  1. 1Quads and glutes working hard, with strong inner-thigh engagement as you shift.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the knees cave in, rounding the lower back, or bouncing out of the bottom position.

Muscles worked

The typewriter squat mainly works the quads and glutes, with the hamstrings, adductors, lower back, upper abs, and calves assisting.
