How to do it

Lie on your back with legs extended towards the ceiling. Reach your hands toward your toes, lifting your shoulders off the ground. Lower back down and repeat.

  1. 1Lie on your back with your legs vertical and reach your hands toward your toes; you should feel your upper abs contracting
  2. 2Lift your shoulder blades off the floor as you exhale and squeeze at the top
  3. 3Keep your legs straight and stable while you crunch

Common mistakes

  • Don't jerk your body or bounce to reach your toes
  • Avoid pulling on your neck or letting your head lead the movement
  • Don't swing your legs or let them drift, the movement comes from your torso
