How to do it
Lie on your back with your legs extended. Draw your right knee up toward your chest and guide it across your body toward the left side, using your left hand to gently press your knee toward the floor. Extend your right arm out to the side and turn your head to the right. Relax into the stretch, breathing deeply. Hold for the recommended time and then switch sides.
- 1Rotate or resist rotation through your torso; you should feel your obliques doing the work
- 2Rotate through your torso under control; you should feel your obliques driving the motion
- 3Move deliberately and with control rather than relying on speed or momentum
Common mistakes
- Don't feel pain or strain in unrelated areas; adjust your load or range if you do
- Don't twist your lower back forcefully or jerk through the motion
- Don't use momentum or rush through the reps, quality trumps quantity
