How to do it
Stand in front of a box or bench. Plant one foot firmly on the platform and drive through that heel to step up until your standing leg is straight, then explosively drive the opposite knee up toward your chest at the top. Lower back down with control and repeat, alternating or staying on one side.
- 1Lead-leg glute and quad lifting you onto the box
- 2A sharp knee drive up at the top for balance and power
- 3Core engaged and torso tall throughout the step
Common mistakes
- Pushing off the trailing leg or hopping up with momentum
- Letting your knee collapse inward or drift past your toes
- Leaning forward or arching your back at the top
