How to do it
Stand tall and bend both elbows to ninety degrees in front of you, drawing your elbows and forearms together at the midline. From there, scoop your forearms up and out, squeezing your chest and biceps as your arms rise, then return under control. Keep the elbows pressed together as long as possible through the scoop.
- 1Squeeze your inner chest as you press your elbows together
- 2Feel your biceps tighten as you scoop the forearms up
- 3Keep tension constant rather than relaxing at the bottom
Common mistakes
- Do not let your elbows drift apart during the scoop
- Avoid shrugging your shoulders up toward your ears
- Do not arch your lower back to drive the movement
