How to do it
Stand a couple feet from a wall with your back to it, feet shoulder width apart and arms bent in front of your chest. Brace your core and rotate your torso to one side until your hands touch the wall behind you, then rotate back through center and twist to the other side to touch again. Keep the motion controlled and driven by your trunk.
- 1Feel your obliques drive each rotation
- 2Keep your hips facing forward while your trunk twists
- 3Stay tall through the spine as you turn
Common mistakes
- Do not swing your arms to reach; rotate the torso
- Avoid moving your feet or hips to cheat the twist
- Do not hold your breath; keep the core braced and breathing
