How to do it
Sit on the edge of a sturdy chair and grip the sides of the seat for support. Lean back slightly and extend your legs out straight in front of you, then pull both knees in toward your chest by crunching your abs. Extend back out under control and repeat.
- 1Lower abs doing the work as you draw your knees in
- 2A controlled crunch rather than swinging the legs
- 3Hands steadying you while your core moves the legs
Common mistakes
- Using momentum to swing your legs in and out
- Rounding hard through your low back at the bottom
- Holding your breath instead of exhaling as you tuck
Muscles worked
The sitting knee tuck on a chair mainly works the lower abs and hip flexors, with the upper abs, obliques, and quads assisting.
