How to do it
Sit on the edge of a padded stool and lean your torso back slightly while gripping the sides for support. Bring the soles of your feet together and let your knees fall open in a frog position, then crunch your torso and knees toward each other by contracting your abs. Extend back out under control and repeat.
- 1Your abs contracting to draw your chest and knees together
- 2A strong squeeze through the front of your core at the top
- 3Controlled extension as you lower back without fully relaxing
Common mistakes
- Don't yank with your hip flexors; lead the crunch with your abs
- Avoid swinging your legs with momentum
- Don't round forward from your neck; keep the work in your core
