How to do it
Sit on the floor leaning back on your hands with your legs extended and lifted. Draw both knees up and across toward one shoulder on a diagonal, then extend back out and alternate to the other side. Keep your core braced and your feet off the floor throughout.
- 1Your lower abs lifting and driving the knees up and across
- 2Your obliques working as the knees travel on the diagonal
- 3Steady tension in the core keeping the legs from dropping
Common mistakes
- Letting your feet rest on the floor between reps
- Using momentum to swing the knees instead of controlling them
- Rounding the lower back under the backward lean
Muscles worked
The sitting floor diagonal knee raise mainly works the lower abs, obliques, and hip flexors, with the upper abs assisting.
