How to do it
Lie on your side near a wall with your feet braced against it for support and your hips stacked. Place your top hand behind your head and crunch your ribcage toward your hip, lifting your shoulder off the ground. Lower under control and repeat, then switch sides.
- 1Feel your obliques contract as you crunch ribs toward hip
- 2Keep your hips stacked and stable against the wall
- 3Lower slowly to keep tension on the side of your waist
Common mistakes
- Do not pull on your neck with your hand
- Avoid rolling your hips backward as you crunch
- Do not use momentum to swing up; control the lift
