How to do it

Sit on the floor beside a wall with your hip and side facing it, knees bent. Brace your obliques and crunch your torso laterally toward the wall, then return under control. Complete your reps, then switch sides.

  1. 1Your obliques contracting to bend your torso sideways
  2. 2A short, controlled crunch through the waist
  3. 3Even tension on the working side

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum or pushing off the wall
  • Pulling on your neck to move
  • Twisting instead of bending laterally
