How to do it
Sit tall on the edge of a chair holding the sides for support, with your feet flat on the floor. Brace your core and extend both legs straight out in front of you to lift them toward hip height, then lower them back down under control.
- 1Feel your lower abs and hip flexors raise your legs
- 2Keep your torso tall and braced as the legs lift
- 3Lower your legs slowly rather than dropping them
Common mistakes
- Don't lean back or rock to swing your legs up
- Avoid rounding your lower back at the top
- Don't let momentum drive the raise
Muscles worked
The seated leg raises on a chair mainly works the lower abs and hip flexors, with the upper abs and quads assisting.
