How to do it

Sit on the floor or a bench leaning back slightly with your hands behind you for support and your legs extended off the floor. Trace the shape of a figure 8 in the air with your feet, keeping your legs together and your core braced throughout.

  1. 1The lower abs controlling the legs through the figure-8 path
  2. 2A braced, still torso while only the legs move
  3. 3Constant tension with the feet held off the floor

Common mistakes

  • Letting your lower back round or your chest collapse
  • Dropping your feet to the floor between reps
  • Rushing the pattern and losing core control

Muscles worked

The seated 8 leg crunch mainly works the lower abs and hip flexors, with the obliques, upper abs, quads, and adductors assisting.
