How to do it
Lie face down with a foam roller under the front of one thigh. Support your upper body on your forearms and roll slowly from the top of the knee up toward the hip, working the front of the quad.
- 1Feel a release down the front of your thigh as you roll the quad
- 2Let your bodyweight press the thigh into the roller for steady pressure
- 3Pause and breathe on tight spots until they soften
Common mistakes
- Don't roll over the kneecap or the hip bone
- Avoid rolling too fast; keep it slow and deliberate
- Don't let your lower back sag; keep your core lightly braced
Muscles worked
The roll rectus femoris mainly works the quads, with the hip flexors assisting.
