How to do it

Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Drive your right knee up toward your chest and simultaneously push off your left foot to jump upward, swinging your opposite arm for momentum. Land softly on your left foot and immediately repeat the movement on the other side, skipping forward with each stride. Focus on height and power rather than speed, using your arms to help generate lift.

  1. 1Drive off the ball of your foot and lift your knee high; you should feel your glutes, calves, and hip flexors propelling you upward
  2. 2Swing your opposite arm vigorously to maintain rhythm and balance
  3. 3Land softly and immediately transition into the next skip, feeling a spring in your step

Common mistakes

  • Don't hunch your shoulders or let your chest collapse; stay upright
  • Avoid overstriding or stomping your feet, the movement should feel light
  • Don't allow your knees to cave inward on takeoff or landing
