How to do it
Start in a wide push-up position with one arm extended straight out to the side and the working arm under your shoulder. Lower your chest toward the working hand while the extended arm stays nearly straight, then press back up. All the load shifts to one side, making it a step toward the one-arm push-up.
- 1Working pec and triceps driving you back up
- 2Stretch across the extended arm's chest
- 3Core and hips locked level as weight shifts to one side
Common mistakes
- Letting the working elbow flare out to 90 degrees
- Rotating or dropping your hips toward the floor
- Bouncing through the bottom instead of controlling it
Muscles worked
The one side archer push-up mainly works the mid chest and triceps, with the upper chest, lower chest, front delts, upper abs, lower abs, and obliques assisting.
