How to do it
Lie on your side with legs stacked and your bottom arm on the floor for support, top hand behind your head. Simultaneously lift your legs and your torso toward each other, crunching through the side of your waist, then lower under control. Keep the movement in one plane and repeat, then switch sides.
- 1Feel your obliques crunch your ribs and legs together
- 2Lift through the side of your waist, not your neck
- 3Lower under control and keep the movement in one line
Common mistakes
- Avoid jerking or using momentum to fold up
- Don't roll forward or backward out of the side position
- Avoid holding your breath; exhale as you crunch
