How to do it
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat, hands by your head. Curl up and across, bringing one shoulder toward the opposite knee to engage the side of your waist, then lower under control and alternate sides.
- 1The side of your waist working as you twist your shoulder across
- 2Your lower back staying in contact with the floor
- 3A deliberate crunch and twist rather than a yank with the arms
Common mistakes
- Do not pull on your head or neck to lift up
- Avoid using momentum to swing into the twist
- Do not flatten the rotation into a straight crunch
Muscles worked
The oblique crunches floor mainly works the obliques, with the upper abs and lower abs assisting.
