How to do it
Lie on your back with your shoulders propped up slightly and your legs raised toward the ceiling. Keeping your shoulders down, rotate your legs side to side like windshield wipers, controlling the movement with your obliques. Return through center on each rep.
- 1Feel your obliques control the legs as they sweep side to side
- 2Keep both shoulders pinned to the floor the whole time
- 3Brace your core so the lower back stays supported
Common mistakes
- Don't let momentum throw your legs past your control
- Avoid letting one shoulder peel off the floor
- Don't let your lower back arch hard off the ground
Muscles worked
The lying raised shoulders windshield wiper mainly works the obliques and lower abs, with the upper abs, hip flexors, and adductors assisting.
