How to do it

Stay low in a quarter squat and shuffle several steps to one side, then tap the floor with one hand before shuffling back the other way. Keep your hips down and your weight on the balls of your feet throughout.

  1. 1Feel your glutes and quads working to stay low as you shuffle
  2. 2Keep your hips back and chest up as you reach down to tap
  3. 3Push off the trailing leg to drive each lateral step

Common mistakes

  • Do not stand tall between shuffles; stay in the low squat
  • Avoid letting your knees cave in as you push sideways
  • Do not cross your feet; keep a wide, stable base
