How to do it

Lie on your back with your hands lightly behind your head. Crunch your torso up while simultaneously tucking your knees toward your chest, twisting so an elbow meets the opposite knee. Lower under control and alternate sides each rep.

  1. 1Feel your obliques squeeze as elbow and opposite knee meet
  2. 2Drive the crunch from your abs, not your neck
  3. 3Keep tension through your midsection the whole rep

Common mistakes

  • Don't yank on your head or neck with your hands
  • Avoid swinging your legs; move with control
  • Don't let your lower back arch off the floor
